Airness was the mainstage show produced at the University of Colorado Department of Theater and Dance that I had the opportunity to design for.

For this design I recieved a KCACTF certificate of merit, and I was selected for adjudication at the design competition at SETC in March of 2023.

    Airness follows a young woman's journey of self discovery as she ventures into the world of competitive air guitar. Encouraged by her newfound friends, Nina determines if she can find the Airness within herself and make to the national championships. The setting of Airness takes place in multiple dive bars around the country, locales include New York City, Chicago, Boston, San Diego and Staten Island, as well as the grand finale set in Los Angeles. When approaching this design I sought to create a setting that had the feeling and atmosphere of a local dive bar hangout that can easily be converted to represent multiple locales through changes in set dressing and the use of flown elements. I also sought to be able to transform the stage for the grand finale to create a distinct and memorable atmosphere suitable for the climax of the play.
